Broken Ankle Aventures

Titanium Rose

There you have it!

I operated and functioned on that for four weeks before this xray.

Yes, I was in pain. Someone mentioned later that I must have a high pain tolerance. Yes, I do.

The part you aren't able to see on the far right of the broken bone is that the break is all the way through.

I have a second xray picture to share. However, it's on my husband's, +Paul M Edwards', phone in PDF format. He's too busy to transform it to an image file. I'll try my best to describe and explain from my memory what I saw on the new xray.

After the above xray was done I went online to find an immobilizer boot. Very similar to this:

I wore this for two weeks before the 2nd xray. It's definitely an immobilizer.

Since I continued to use my foot/ankle after it was broken before doing anything to properly treat it the break was still like it was fresh. So, the healing while wearing the boot was a fresh start.

The far right part that's not as visible in the xray here has started healing first because it was the least damaged and a smaller sliver of break. So, on the new xray there's a visible mark that looks like a patch of concrete that was just thrown down and left to cure. Like a clump. The rest of the xray looks much the same as above.

The injury happened on September 27th, 2013. The 1st xray was taken on October 25th. I started wearing the boot on November 6th, 2013. I will have to continue its use until between December 18th, 2013 and January 1st, 2014. The week of Dec 18th I'll have another xray done to see the progress of the healing. At some point I'll move to an ankle support. Then I'll begin my aggressive physiotherapy to rebuild my muscle and strength.

What caused the injury?

Well, let's say, I had a disagreement with a concrete jersey barrier on a transfer ramp between highways while on my motorcycle. Now, before your mind goes all crazy with imaginative imagery, I never came off the motorcycle nor did I once go down. I just kept going.

Funny story about that too. The Bikers For Christ chapter we're members of decided to rename my road name from Lady Gladiator to Titanium Rose.
I already have some titanium in my left knee from a motorcycle accident in 2010. Also, my countenance is like a delicate flower. I'm tough yet delicate.

Diet, Massage & Fibromyalgia

Donna Brickwood, a massage therapist, demonstrates on Andrea Rich how she works with clients suffering from fibromyalgia. Rich does not have fibromyalgia.
Today, in my reading I came across a great article. It reaffirms that diet affects anyone with fibromyalgia and that massage therapy and proper diet facilitates relief from the pain and discomfort associated with fibromyalgia.

Motorcycling, vitamins and relocation

Hello Friends.

I apologize for the inactivity here. It seems as though the restructuring of the Sea Supplements business is dragging its feet. It's a very long story. Suffice it to say, it has been a huge legal ordeal for the original business.

A shot from my
2013 Spring Tour Rally.
In the meantime, I've found that swansonvitamins.com sells a shark liver oil supplement that I've been using since October 2012. It seems to work quite well.

You'll notice a huge gap in my post dates between 2010 and 2012. In August 2010, I had a fairly serious motorcycle accident. I was going through healing and recovery. My left side was injured, from my shoulder to my big toe. In fact, I've lost a portion of the big toenail. As you read that you thought I was going to say I lost a portion of a body part, didn't you? Isn't a toenail a body part, sort of? I actually have a torn ligament in my left shoulder that wasn't serious enough for surgery. But, the most serious injury was my left knee. I had to have minor reconstructive surgery. They did it as out-patient surgery. They replaced my ACL with a cadaver ligament and did meniscectomy [cleaned up the torn up bits of the meniscus and smoothed it out].

My system is so sensitive that all the drugs pumped into me messed me up. So, all the great progress I made in 2009 leading up to August 2010 went down the tubes. Even the supplements I was taking weren't doing their job. For 2 yrs I went through recovery. I hit rock bottom with all this in October 2012. I went to swanson vitamins online and re-evaluated the supplements, vitamins and minerals I was taking. I hadn't had any shark liver oil for some time. So, I corrected my supplements with better choices and added the shark liver oil back into my regimen.

At the end of October, my husband, +Paul Edwards, had ordered a workout at home system that arrived in November. Right away, we both began to work out. Great results began to show up for both of us. I had long since been eating organic produce and cooking from scratch recipes at home. I'm almost back where I was before my accident in August 2010.

Now, to throw a monkey wrench into the show again... we're trying to get packed to relocate from Seattle/Tacoma Metro Area to Los Angeles Metro Area. It's hard to get a workout in. I feel stressed enough that I'm sleeping roughly and it's causing neck strain which is affecting the rest of my body. It'll all be worth it in the end though. We'll be relocating to a warmer/sunnier area. We'll be able to go motorcycling more and have fun.

All that to say that I am back on track with better health with a few roadblocks to detour through. God has really blessed us immensely! Praise HIS Name!

Keep your eyes peeled for more soon! Happy Friday!

Update: Health

Hello everyone. Welcome to the blog.

For the past several months I've been reorganized my lifestyle and diet. My health has improved massively.

I hoped a friend's scales the other day while visiting just out of curiosity and I've lost more weight. I'm down from 198 to 182. I don't generally go by weight because I'm a muscular. And muscle weighs more than fat. I typically go by inches. So, in order to understand better how things are I measure instead of weigh. I've went from a size 18 to a size 15. My clothes are quite baggy on me.

Later this Summer I'll get a picture and compare it to one taken in December 2008 Just so you can see the difference.

Please check back for updates!
